Exploring Herbs and Spices for a Healthier Life

I wanted to talk with you today about herbs and spices. They were used in earlier history by the ancient Greeks to treat and prevent health problems. I have been on a personal journey with wellness and health to explore different avenues to improve my own health. One of the things that I am studying is about herbs and spices in relation to improved health. They contain #anti-inflammatory properties and may improve cognitive health as well. They are not the cure for disease, but they can improve overall health. I have found ten that I have been incorporating into my life and I would like to talk with you about them.


Ginger


Ginger has been used for #nausea and other stomach problems. It contains anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants. Ginger works well for morning sickness, seasickness, and motion sickness.

It has also shown to have anti-cancer properties in part from the high antioxidant levels. It can also slow down cells reproducing, cause cells to stop dividing, and stop certain activator proteins and signaling pathways that contribute to cancer. This has only been found in research with mice at this point though.


Cumin


Cumin is a popular cooking spice used for its aromatic effects. Studies show that it is also beneficial for #weight loss, cholesterol, stress management, and more. It has been shown to help maintain blood sugar levels in studies.


Cinnamon


This spice is a power house with a lot of health benefits as an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticarcinogenic.


Capsaicin


This is found in chili powder and is what provides it to be spicy.

may play an important role in regulating heart and metabolic health.

When people consume chili powder, the spice triggers beneficial protein changes in the body that are conducive to weight loss. It has also shown anti-cancer properties as well.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, chili powder for supporting arthritis treatments, as well as for alleviating muscle and joint inflammation.


Oregano


This is another power house with a multitude of health benefits

strengthening the immune system against infections, reducing inflammation, regulating blood sugar, improving insulin resistance, alleviating urinary tract symptoms and menstrual cramps


Cardamon


Cardamom is yet another spice that provides a lot of health benefits. It is found in chai tea, deserts, and other dishes. The following are things that cardamon has helped improve in a lot of people. These are things worth trying. It doesn’t hurt to try and it may help you with this.

constipation, colic, dyspepsia, diarrhea, headache, epilepsy

These are some of the different herbs and spices that I am incorporating in my life. They are powerhouses in antioxidants and other essential vitamins. If you have serious health problems always consult your doctor.
