Someday

By Luci Fardo

This morning I was on the treadmill running. I began thinking about the word someday. I thought about how I used to think about someday. Someday I would move away. Someday I would get in shape. I would think someday I will overcome the anxiety and fear that threatened to consume me. Someday I will move up in the company. Someday I would be happy. Someday I will have it all. This is something that happens to us all. We are always looking forward and backward, but never at the present moment. We doubt ourselves and wait. We wait for that perfect opportunity. The moment that will change our lives. Some people will live their entire lives waiting for that someday. Someday you will see that you had it in you the entire time.

The beginning always starts with a someday. You may have the best vision in your mind your entire life and it won't matter. You must take the first step to making it reality. Don't settle for the someday. Make changes in your life to bring someday to now. With the vision you must take action. This will create progress. After this you will have momentum. Take a walk down a busy street. Look around at the buildings that are surrounding you. Look at the cars around you. These came to be because of someone's vision. Think about how empty the landscape if no one actually took action.

The first step to make a decision to move forward. If allows you to make a step toward achieving your goals and vision. Everything begins with a step. As we grow so do our somedays. As we grow and achieve the little things in life. Think about your past somedays. Running on the treadmill now I realized that today is a past someday. I remember two years ago wishing that I was healthy and in shape. I envisioned being in better shape and able to run. It started with running for five minutes on the treadmill. It started with cutting back on food.

I remember thinking someday I will start a blog. Someday I will write a book. Today is the someday. I have two blogs and other book projects in the pipeline. I started back to work at a new company. I thought someday I will be in a leadership position. Now someday is here. I have discovered that I am the person I someday wanted to be. I still have so much to do someday. I also have a plan to make someday a reality. I have vision boards and lists. I have found that the someday is so much sweeter when you make an effort to get there.

Life is a game that expands when we push forward. Our mapping of the world changes when we realize that. We see that there are opportunities there. Don't be afraid of falling. You can rise and be even stronger. Building things of significance it starts on the bottom. You can be as bold as you want. Life is beautiful and it is so worth it to take the risk of failure. Choose to be brave and step outside your comfort zone to finally make the somedays come true. Don't wait take a step now so that later you won't look back in regret.
