Motivation to Reach Goals

Motivation is defined as the desire to act in service of a goal. Usually to achieve something we really want we must do something to obtain it. In order to achieve most things we really want, we must do something to obtain it. We must make some sacrifice to achieve it. In order to achieve that goal, you must put a plan in place to reach it.

  1. Habits. Force yourself to make habits. They will last on days you feel less motivated. When you develop new routines and habits change your mindset as well. Say aloud, "I am a non-smoker, I am a runner,"etc. Try to picture yourself that way. If I were to say picture a pink elephant you would probably see it. Did you see a pink elephant?

  2. Disipline. You must have discipline to be successful. Disipline is necessary to make changes in your life. It helps to create habits and make changes.

  3. You also need a plan. Think about how you will put your plan in place and start working toward your goal. Keep track of your progress so that you can see how far you are going and to inspire you to do more on days you may not feel as inclined.

There are a lot of tools out there to use to track your progress such as calendars and apps. It also helps if you tell one person that may be a source of encouragement. They can help you to have a kind of sounding board and have accountability. I hope the next time you find a post that you want to implement in your life that you ask yourself how you will achieve it. Let me know how you have reached your goals.
